Many people think that organizing your life is about time management but they are overlooking one thing – to learn how to organize your life you need to make the choice to do it.
It is up to you to decide what is important!
When your life is overwhelming, it’s sometimes important to clear the clutter in your life to free up energy for other things. With so many demands in what seems like limited hours in a day (though 24 hours really do exist) it keeps us from getting organized. There are only four steps to learn how to organize your life.
figure out what is important first
Decide what is really important to you. Don’t you want to spend your time on the things you value?
That is the key. If you do not have a clear picture of your values and goals, it is easy to focus your time on things that don’t contribute to them. Time will slip away. Once you have defined clear, attainable, specific goals you can then focus on them.
Zen Habits has some good advice on Really Simple Goal Setting but before you do that make sure you explore your list of values. I find that Steve Pavlina has a simple approach to discovering your value and goals – this guy knows what he’s talking about with a million visitors a month to his website, his ideas are insightful and they work (a bit wordy though).
Make a list of your goals, values & purpose in life.
We will leave you with that exercise to ponder life.
